18 Ottobre 2011. Manang (3540 m) – Ledar (4200 m) - 13 km. Settimo giorno. Giornata impeccabile. Attraversiamo la vecchia Manang e cominciamo la lunga salita per Ledar. Tangki è il primo villaggio che incontriamo con le sue grigie case di pietra, difficilmente visibili da lontano. Il sentiero aperto offre bei panorami sul fondo valle e sulle alte montagne circostanti, il massiccio dell' Annapurna e del Chulu. Gunsang, due lodge a 3900 m, ci offre l'occasione per riposare un po'. Il successivo insediamento umano è Yak Kharka dove, su di un prato, stazionano alcuni yak: sono animali imponenti, solitari, intenti a ruminare accoccolati sull'erba. Il Churi Lattar Lodge ci accoglie infine a Ledar. La stanza è spaziosa, con spazi ove riporre gli oggetti personali. Alle tre del pomeriggio azzardo un piatto di spaghetti al pomodoro e, devo dire, che li ho trovati buoni. Forse la fame e la voglia di pasta asciutta erano altrettanto grandi! Il resto del tempo viene trascorso a letto nel saccopiuma. La quota si fa sentire anche in questo. Il solito forte vento pomeridiano lascia filtrare spifferi gelidi dal telaio delle finestre. Cena alle 18:30 e subito a letto. Stento ad addormentarmi causa il freddo. Non riesco a riscaldare la parte superiore del corpo, testa e spalle.

October 18, 2011. Manang (3540 m) – Ledar (4200 m) - 13 km. Day seven. Sunny day. We leave Manang and start the long climb to Ledar. We pass Tangki, a small settlement with its grey stone houses and take the open trail slowly meandering higher and higher. The sights around us are spectacular: the Kone Khola (river) flows on the valley floor below while the Annapurna and Chulu massifs shine in the sun above. Gunsang, two lodges at 3900 metres, is a good opportunity to have a break. Next, Yak Kharka, 4020 metres high, is a place with a few lodges and lots of yaks lying in the grass. And then comes Ledar. The Churi Lattar Lodge, where we will stay for the night, has wide bedrooms with plenty of room for our personal belongings. At 3 o'clock in the afternoon I try spaghetti with tomato sauce... excellent! Maybe my opinion has been affected by hunger and a strong desire for pasta... who knows! The rest of the day is spent in the sleeping bag. Supper at 18:30 and then... to bed. It is cold inside the draughty room. The cold wind finds its way through the window frames. I can't get to sleep for a while. I can't get warm.
